A national nonprofit dedicated to helping communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.
The Kalla Foundation
Transparency
We are organized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, meaning we have no owners or shareholders, are prohibited from operating for private gain, and are required to reinvest all assets in pursuit of our charitable mission. As a tax-exempt organization, we are also subject to regulatory standards that restrict political engagement and mandate public disclosure of financial filings. For the sake of transparency, please view all of this information below.

Financial Information
In this section, you’ll find our approved budget, a live breakdown of our revenue sources—including individual donors, institutional grants, and other income—and a clear overview of how those funds are allocated across our organization. We will also publish quarterly updates showing how actual expenses compare to the approved budget. For your convenience, summarized tables are available below.
How is the Kalla Foundation funded?
Like any organization, we have both revenue and expenses. Currently, our funding comes entirely from donations, while many of our operational expenses are fully covered by in-kind contributions from institutions such as Microsoft, Canva, and others. These grants are typically awarded through competitive application processes, and donations come from individuals like you who truly believe in our mission and want to support us directly.

2026 Revenue
How does the Kalla Foundation spend money?
As a nonprofit organization, all of our revenue directly supports our mission to help communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. We take disaster relief seriously; therefore, unlike many of the more traditional nonprofit organizations, we are entirely volunteer-based with no physical office—allowing us to prioritize investing the majority of our time and money providing quality programs rather than on fundraising, staffing, and other operational expenses.
We are also committed to maintaining an impartial approach to our disaster relief. By upholding strict conflict-of-interest policies, we ensure that funding sources do not influence our work and that our expenses remain reasonable and unbiased.

“Our goal at the Kalla Foundation is to set the national standard for disaster relief nonprofit organizations. We believe that transparency and accountability are not just legal requirements; they are promises we make to the communities we serve. This unwavering commitment distinguishes us and guides everything we do.”
